Gay marriage

Today Obama announced that he no longer supports the Defense of Marriage Act. He believes that it is unconstitutional. The act, DOMA, makes it legal for states to choose not to recognize gay marriages that have taken place in other states.

Do we need to go into Afghanistan?

Obviously Afghanistan is where we wish to spend our money. Is that where our money belongs? My  blog today is to be very short. Should we or should we not invest money in the Afghan nation, and try to make progress. I feel as if there are better things to spend money on. Whether or not we should spend money on war, I feel as if there need not be money spent on Afghanistan. Agree or Disagree?

Obama's re-election?

So what is the likeliness that Obama will be re-elected? He's had trouble with getting some things done -- there is no question of this -- but part of that is because Republican's have stopped him from  doing many things that he desired. I'm not saying he should or should not be re-elected, but he certainly hasn't done many things that he said he would. Yes, I understand it is impossible to complete everything. He still has a lot of support though. Does he have a good chance of re-election? If so, who can beat him?

A new CNN-Opinion Research Corp. poll finds that 51 percent of Americans expect Obama to lose his re-election.

Federal Budget

Not that this is the first time in history that a president has released the full budget for a fiscal year, but it is very easily accessible this time. If you are interested in viewing the budget you can go here: http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/budget/Overview. Its about a 4 MB file so it doesn't take very long to download. Thats all I have for today. If you find anything interesting about the budget feel free to let me know.

Here is a reported federal budget breakdown for 2011

Budget cuts continue...

Many of you may tune in to the Public Broadcasting Station (PBS) or the National Public Radio.

Well don't keep your hopes up for the continuance of these networks. Budget cuts may make their way to public broadcasting. Republicans have proposed several options for budget cuts that involve cutting public broadcasting. Maybe its worth saving the money... Is it?

Thanks Obama...

Lower taxes? Apparently Obama's solution is to cut federal student aid by 100 billion. This lowers the Pell Grant funds received by financially unstable students and makes a college education nearly impossible to achieve in some situations.

"Education For All" he says... Yet he is cutting financial aid by 100 billion for students.
What are your thoughts?
